S & S Couplings
“Like wings for bikes.”
As a bike tourist, I specialize in the value of mobility. It’s my mission to provide a finely tuned and smartly engineered travel bike; one that can haul you and your gear comfortably, anywhere you want to ride. Every path is a passage… so long as there is ground beneath your wheels!
But from one patch of earth to the other, your bike will need a lift. For a conventional bike this means a big box and a bigger fee, followed by an anxious wait at the oversize baggage pick-up area, and a big mess of cardboard and chain grease as you assemble your bike at the airport (since that oversize box won’t fit inside a taxi or airport shuttle.)
S&S couplings are stronger than the tubes they connect, maintenance and worry free when they’re coupled, hassle and surcharge free when they’re not. I have them on my daily driver and I forget they’re even there… until it’s time to fly somewhere.
New Install $ 750
Coupling installation on a new standard or oversize Littleford frame.
Retrofit $ 915
Couplings retrofitted onto an existing standard or oversize steel frame. Frame suitability varies: Damaged, very small, and ultralight frames may not be safe to modify. I am also unable to retrofit frames with non-round tubing, or aluminum, titanium, and carbon fiber frames.
Retrofit Paint $ 320
Once the installation is complete, the exposed frame tubing needs to be protected from rust. Many powdercoat options are available. Price quoted is for frame and fork in a single color.
S&S Lowrider rack $ 580
The S&S Lowrider rack is essentially two flat halves that join in the center above the front wheel, allowing the rack to easily break down to fit into an S&S case along with the rest of the bike.
S&S internal brake housing $ 390
Internal brake housing couples along with the top tube coupling, so the brake cable can be fed through the coupled frame as with standard internal routing. The brake cable end can be tinned for reinsertion in the frame.
